We built the tool we wished existed.

When our families went through loss, there was no guide, no checklist, and no one to say "here's what to do next." So we built one.

When someone you love dies, the grief is only half of it. The other half is the logistics, and nobody prepares you for that part.

Within hours, you're making decisions about funeral homes, death certificates, bank accounts, and legal documents. Over the next weeks and months, you're navigating probate, insurance claims, government agencies, and account closures, often for the first time in your life.

We know this because we've lived it.

When our families went through loss, we found ourselves Googling "what to do when someone dies" at 2am. We made phone calls we didn't know we needed to make. We missed deadlines we didn't know existed. We carried the weight of 60+ tasks across months, often alone, with no roadmap and no support.

We looked for a free, organized tool we could share with our siblings and family so one person didn't have to carry it all. It didn't exist.

    So we built Omuna.

But a checklist alone wasn't enough. Some moments during loss feel almost impossible to face alone: finding the right words to tell people someone has died, writing an obituary that honors a life, making a place where family can gather and share memories. So we built AI tools to help with those moments: a Notification Writer that helps you share the news in minutes, an Obituary Writer that helps you draft a dignified tribute, and a Memorial Page that gives family and friends a permanent place to come together, even from far away.

All three are free, and built for people in the middle of a terrible time.

    Why "Omuna"?

The name Omuna comes from roots meaning remembering and steadfastness. We think every family deserves both in their hardest moments: a steady hand, a clear path, and a way to honor the people we've lost by taking care of the people still here.

    What we believe

We believe no family should have to pay for a map through the hardest weeks of their life.

That's why Omuna is free for every family, always.

We believe grief is shared, and the work that follows should be too.

That's why Omuna is built for families to use together.

We believe the logistics of loss shouldn't be something you figure out through trial and error.

That's why every task in Omuna includes plain-language guidance, time estimates, and reassurance that you're doing it right.

We believe that once you've been through this, you shouldn't have to wonder whether your own family is prepared.

    That's where we're heading next.

    More than a checklist

Omuna starts with a checklist because that's what families need in the moment of crisis. We plan to do more than that.

We've already built three free AI tools (a Notification Writer, an Obituary Writer, and a Memorial Page) because many of the hardest moments are emotional: the 2am search for the right words, the obituary you don't know how to start, the wish for somewhere your family could gather, even from a distance. Those tools are free for every family.

Next, we're building a verified marketplace of trusted funeral homes, estate attorneys, and financial advisors, so families don't have to search for help at their most vulnerable.

We want Omuna to be where families prepare, protect, and preserve what matters across generations.

We call it the OS for Legacy.
